Combining Continuator & Pause Between Tracks

I'm recording custom mixes to MD and I like them crossfaded, so I'm using Cpt. Footure's Continuator plugin.  To avoid having to go back and make MD track marks manually, I wanted to use MD's Smart Space feature, triggering it by using Kode's "Pause Between Tracks" plugin.  However, when I inserted PBT into the DSP chain (after Continuator), it had the effect of disabling both plugins.  No crossfade or pause occurred.

I can live with this, but I'd like to know if anyone else is looking to scratch this particular itch or has found a different solution.  I'm also interesting in knowing the technical reasons behind this not working.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I searched pretty extensively on "Continuator" and "Pause between tracks" before posting.

Thanks.
