What's wrong with this CUE-sheet?

I ripped this CD with EAC 0.9 beta 4, using a Plextor.
Gap/Index retrieval method B, Secure.
(I've also tried methods A and C, and they produced identical CUE-sheets).

Here's the problem:

I open the CUE-sheet in foobar2000, and it plays along nicely, until track 8.
An error-message pops up, saying that it can't open file for playback.

I played around with the CUE-sheet, and changed this entry:

Quote
  TRACK 08 AUDIO
TITLE "Through the Eyes of the Raven"
    PERFORMER "The Kovenant"
    INDEX 00 39:31:27
    INDEX 01 39:36:36

into this:

Quote
  TRACK 08 AUDIO
TITLE "Through the Eyes of the Raven"
    PERFORMER "The Kovenant"
    INDEX 00 39:31:27
    INDEX 01 39:34:36

As you see, I altered Index 01 with -2 seconds. This fixed the problem, foobar2000 now plays it back without problems.

(I also tried to play the FLAC-file without CUE-sheet, and of course, it played nicely along, nothing wrong with the FLAC).

Any ideas? All my other FLAC/CUEs are working just fine.

Try to encode the image in another format, say, monkey's audio, change the cuesheet to point to the .ape instead of .flac and see if it's still broken.

I decoded the FLAC to WAV now, and pointed the CUE to the WAV.
Seems to work just fine.

But since I managed to decode the FLAC just right, how come the CUE in combination with the FLAC won't work on Track 08?
The FLAC seems to be in order...this is weird.

I had a similar problem with cue+flac and I was told that it's a seeking bug in flac, tho i don't know anything else about this subject...

You might want to read this thread.

Also, I wrote a mail to the FLAC developer because of this bug. Here's his answer:
Quote
I'm aware
of the bug about flac not seeking to a specific sample and I
have a test case, but I haven't gotten around to trying to
repeat it.  I'm really short on free time lately and the next
release is probably a few months away.

Too bad no one is willing to make a small fix, it's the only thing that keeps FLAC from being perfect

Hrm? Try changing "WAVE" to "FLAC"

AFAIK there's only either WAVE or MP3 in cue sheets...

Nevermind me, I should learn how to read posts thoroughly

I encoded the wav with another compression ratio in FLAC now, 7 instead of 8, and that seems to have fixed the problem.

I guess it was the seeking bug that was the issue.

Have a similar prob with mp3.cue...doesn't seem to be a pure FLAC problem.
I'm still trying to recreate the problem to show a proper ERROR message but no luck so far.
The only thing I can say is: When I play mp3.cue-files, foobar (v0.8b8) crashes very often. Show you the ERROR messages as soon as I get them!
