Which AAC binary/settings is OK for encoding?

Hi - AAC is very attractive but all that binaries are confusing me...
For example i have found here two (win32) encoders:
#1) Psytel AAC encoder 2002-03-02, V. 2.15
#2) Psytel Fast AAC Encoder 2002-03-04, V. 2.0 beta

Binary #1 has an higher version number, but #2 seems to encode with
another or better preset definition, specially with '-archive' parameter.

So which of them reach a higher quality? - Or is there any other
command-line encoder to prefer?

If there are any important notes more a AAC newbie should know,
please tell me!

Thanks for your help,

#1) Psytel AAC encoder 2002-03-02, V. 2.15
this is the high quality encoder

#2) Psytel Fast AAC Encoder 2002-03-04, V. 2.0 beta
THis is the FAST encoder (therefore named fast)

depends on quality vs speed

anyway if you need the lastest... you need to go with nero aac.
Its the same Ivan Dimkovic who is the man behind psytel and nero aac encoders. Ahead saw what i great job he did with his psytell encoder tha they hired the man..or something like it

Psytel AAC Encoder 2.15 is much better than Psytel FastEnc

for multichannel files, FAAC is better than Psytel

Hrm... did you actually perform a listening test of FAAC vs. Psytel on multichannel?

yes, i converted a .wav file : PCM 16 bits, 6 channel, 48000 Hz
FAAC is working
Psytel is buggy (the audio is very strange)

Psytel is better with stereo files
