Scripting MP3Gain

I have looked at the command line reference, but i was wondering if anyone has had any luck successfully scripting MP3Gain.  I have 6000+ songs and would like to apply to whole collection, perhaps one letter (artists that start with A first, etc) at a time.  Planned to use the AT command to schedule and kick off late at night.  Anyone use a good script to do album gain?
