Lots of anti-virus scanners and so-called malware detectors like to flag infrequently downloaded software as bad until it is either downloaded enough times, or its developer actually bothers with getting each individual release allow listed by every single AV vendor. You can do many people a great favor when encountering such a "problem" example by submitting them to your AV vendor for examination. For almost everything on this forum, it is a false positive.

Replacing the file 'flac.exe' in the 'encoders' directory

Hi there!

I would like to know if I can replace the executable 'flac.exe' in the 'encoders' directory of foobar2000 (portable version) with the one available on the 'RareWares' website.

And, if so, would the substitution be made only by the option 'bundle', which contains the said executable?

Thanks in advance.

You can do whatever you want with the "encoders" directory. Just don't expect the installer not to wipe it out when it installs its own flavor.

OK, thanks for the info!

What's the difference between the executable (flac.exe) and the 'libFLAC' file?

libFLAC is the encoder and decoder core component of both flac.exe, and foobar2000's built-in decoder. You only need to supply command line encoders for foobar's converter.

Just one more question, please:

What is 'metaflac.exe', when and where I must use it?

Sorry and thanks in advance.
