Please be aware that much of the software linked to or mentioned on this forum is niche and therefore infrequently downloaded. Lots of anti-virus scanners and so-called malware detectors like to flag infrequently downloaded software as bad until it is either downloaded enough times, or its developer actually bothers with getting each individual release allow listed by every single AV vendor. You can do many people a great favor when encountering such a "problem" example by submitting them to your AV vendor for examination. For almost everything on this forum, it is a false positive.

Issue with $replace function in "File name pattern" of Foobar's File Operations

This issue happens to me only with tracks containing a vertical bar '|' [$char(124)] in their %artist% or %title%.

Steps to reproduce :
1. Choose a track for a test. Set the title to something like 'xxxx | yyyy'
2. right-click a track > File Operations > Rename To > ... > "File name pattern" > $replace(%title%,$char(124),~)

Expected Result : file Destination : xxxx ~ yyyy
Actual Result : file Destination : xxxx _ yyyy

Win 7 x64
Foobar 1.6.4
Thanks in advance.

Not foobar issue.
You can't write ~, | or any illegal character as file name on windows system.

Edit;
However, there is an option you can try, at advanced preferences / tools / file operations / check modern (unicode) replacement of illegal file name characters
