How to fill/edit a new custom column in playlist view? Pattern for stars?

In "Preferences: Playlist View" I added a new custom column "Rating" with empty pattern field and left alignment.

Now when I open a playlist this column appears. But how do I fill in/edit values?
If I double click on the song line the corresponding song is played.
Right-clicking on song line and selecting Properties does not show an entry field for "Rating"
So do assign a value otherwise?
It should be as easy as possible.

I plan to assign later one to to five stars similar to

***
or
*****
to each song.

How would a pattern look like which allows the user to enter only these 5 possible values?

Are you looking for something like this:
Code: [Select]
$repeat(★,%rating%)

Ok, thank you.

But how do  I fill in something in this rating column?

Hi there,

This has been covered a lot in previous times - here is one such thread.

You can use either Quick Tagger or Masstagger components to make keyboard shortcuts (hotkeys) or toolbar buttons, to tag files quickly.

Otherwise the SimPlaylist (DUI) component has a rating column (instead of the one you made) where you simply click the stars.

These are all faster than the usual method - going into right-click tracks > Properties and adding a new field called RATING, and then entering a value of 1-5.

Cheers
