Conerter fails to overwrite existing files

It's the first time I use the built-in converter, therefore I have no idea if this feature actually works or worked in previous foobar2000 versions. I'm using foobar2000 v1.4.2. The conversion works, but the original files were not overwritten. Furthermore the embedded picture is not transferred.

Attached are the screenshots of the dialog windows with the settings I used.

You cannot simultaneously read from a file and overwrite it.

Furthermore the embedded picture is not transferred.
In the converter dialog:
1. Click on 'Other'
2. Check 'Transfer attached pictures'

deus-ex:  he already has that option checked (see his third attachment).  I assume the lack of cover art transfer must be a complication caused by what Ivqcl mentioned?

Ah, I didn't pay attention to his screenshots. And yes, the missing cover art is the result of the failed overwrite process.

So, what should I do (or not do) in order to take advantage of that overwriting feature?

You could for example encode directly from FLACs over old MP3s with new settings.

Ok, now I get it! I misunderstood this overwriting feature: what I have in mind is simply deleting original files after the conversion, which is an option I'm used to with Total Audio Converter. Can this be automated with foobar2000 built-in converter, too, or do I have to delete the original files manually?

P.S.
If an admin can edit the thread title, please add the missing "v".
Thanks.

You can't replace the source files with converter. The term "converter" may be a bit misleading as it doesn't convert the originals. It allows encoding a new copy.
If you absolutely must replace files in place it can be performed with foo_run.

A two step operation wouldn't be a big deal in itself, but if I have to open windows explorer anyway to delete the original files, I might as well stick to Total Audio Coverter which is integrated in the windows shell and does it in one step.
At the end of the day I think this thread should turn into a feature request to have a "delete originals when conversion is done" option.

I'm still not sure why the attached picture was not transferred, though, when all other tags were, including replaygain.
