Automatically Fill Values - buggy?

Just to be clear - I am trying to do certain tag data manipulation using Automatically Fill Values in v 1.4b13 but I NEVER tried them before, so I have no idea if that could be done in for example last stable foobar (1.3.17). Anyway - if that couldn't be done I still see this as a bug.

What I want to achieve: single digit numbers should be converted to double digit numbers (for example "5" to "05"). Then everything should be stored in metadata.

Unexpected behavior:
- Settings 1: "Source - Other..." , set to %track number% . Pattern "tracknumber%. Foobar doesn't even show preview of changes as double digit...
- Settings 2: "Source - Other..." , set to %tracknumber% . Pattern "tracknumber%. Foobar shows preview of changes as double digit numbers. It shows the same in Properties window. I apply changes, tracks are overwritten, but in the end in Properties window again I see single digit characters. And they are like this in tags.
- Settings 3: "Source - Other..." , set to %track number% . Pattern "$pad_right(%track number%,2,0)". Foobar doesn't even show preview of changes as double digit...
- Settings 4: "Source - Other..." , set to %tracknumber% . Pattern "$pad_right(%tracknumber%,2,0)". Foobar doesn't even show preview of changes as double digit...
etc.

EDIT:
Nevermind. This is fcuk1ng difference between iTunes purchased .m4a contained music, and Beatport purchased .mp3 contained music (as well as Juno purchased .flac contained music). For .mp3 and .flac second settings work just great. Jeez, with .m4a I can't use YEAR tag, can't use double digit track numbers... What else?

How I can converse these single digit tracknumbers and totaltracks into double digit versions using Automatically Fill Values functionality?

If it still matters...
Source: $num(%tracknumber%,2)
Pattern: %tracknumber%

The %tracknumber% field already is padded to two digits. $meta(tracknumber) is not, but also does not automatically fall back to $meta(track) for some older files, either.
