I simply use %last_modified%  without any other patterns

%last_modified% every ?

I beg your pardon, but I do not know why, it works now.

%last_modified% every ?

Also just a heads up, a simplified way to not show anything when the tag is empty is to use [%tag%] instead of $if2().

Although in this case I'm fairly sure you won't find one without %last_modified% to begin with.
