Blocked from HA files

Whenever I click on a link to HA files (such as the LAME 3.90.3 ZIP), I get this page:

Quote
If you have reached this page, it is because of one of the two following possibilites:

1. You followed a link on an external site which was pointed directly to one of the files on this server.
2. For some reason our webserver did not receive the appropriate HTTP_REFERER response from your client.
If you suspect that the former case is the reason you have reached this page, then please tell the webmaster of the page that you were sent from to link to the homepage of the file instead of the file itself.

If the latter case is the problem, then you may try to remedy this problem by either disabling any special software which modifies the behavior of your browser regarding the information it normally sends to webservers, try not using a download manager (or configure your download manager to build the value of the HTTP_REFERER variable from the download url), try not using the "save as" right click functionality to download the file (in some browsers, this feature does not send the appropriate value to the server), or just in general check that your browser is sending this information. Some browsers such as Opera allow you to disable this.

As for why Hydrogenaudio is setup in such a manner, we have had to implement hotlinking protection because of other large sites linking directly to the files hosted on the server here and effectively "stealing" our bandwidth, without directing users to the actual homepage instead. It is unfortunate that we have had to resort to this to protect our interests, but it is a necessary action at this point since some webmasters seem not to care about stealing bandwidth and are unwilling to regulate their own behavior.

I am not accessing the files from an outside source, I was here on Hydrogen Audio trying to download 3.90.3!
If I try to right-click Save As it just downloads that page.

Help?

That will not work. You must left-click the link. If you use GetRight, configure it to generate "referer" from download URL.

The aac stuff is hosted at Roberto's server in brazil. That server was down the other day.

Probably because Avant Browser sends referer, but Opera doesn't.

How do you configure a browser or a download manager to send a referer?
I'm using Mozilla Firebird 0.6 and Stardownloader.

Look for an option like "generate referer from the download URL"...

Mozilla works fine without changing any settings.

This is caused by RW getting the wrong refer.
Are you using a download program?
Do you have a firewall?

I'm not using any downloading programs, and I was trying to right-click -> Save As only AFTER normal left-clicking brought me to that page.

What's a firewall?

In Opera 6x and above click:
File > Quick Preferences > Enable referrer logging

If you use any filtering software such as Webwasher, etc., you will have to configure it to allow for referrer logging, or temporarily disable it and use a direct connection.
