bitrate changed after removing attached pictures

hi,
i use foobar2k 1.1.13 custom installation (full installation minus file operations) on windows 7. couple of days ago i attached an artist picture to a flac album. this picture is a hi res jpeg image with 15 mb size. then i realized that all songs in this album become bigger than it was before. this album is the same size as cd.

i tried to remove the artist pic in one of the song. yes, the picture has gone. but the size of the file still big as before. try again with different file and running foobar as admin >>> same results happen.

and what surprised me most is the bitrate of flac files in that album (which pictures alredy removed) is bigger than before. some files even have bigger bitrate than cd (more than 2000kbps).

how can i have the same flac album like before ? any help will be appreciated.

Just re-encode the album and everything will be back to normal. You won’t suffer any information loss because of FLAC’s lossless nature.

Is fb2k supposed to show filesize divided by length, and not audiosize/length?

The explanation, though, would be that it is possible to reserve empty space in the 'preamble' (tags section) of the FLAC file, and applications routinely do so, because then you don't have to rewrite the entire file.

You might consider leaving the image as a folder.jpg file in the same directory.  Under Preferences --> Display, you can set up which filenames fb2k shall look for to display.

What you want – if you really think you need it – is a program that will remove the padding (= the reserved space that Porcus mentioned) from your files. This can be done using metaflac and probably by at least one GUI-based program.

Just re-encode the album and everything will be back to normal.
This is a waste of time. Especially since the difference probably isn’t significant.

Edit: You did get those quoted bitrates from foobar2000, right? If so it’s unclear why it’s using the imprecise and rather back-of-envelopey™ file-size–based bitrate rather than the correct stream-only bitrate. This seems like an inadvisable way to do it.
