Help with 5.1 and switching front / rear left to stereo

I was a previous Winamp user until I moved my PC to my living room, and my PC's desk is to the left of my home entertainment system if you were facing my big screen TV from the couch, and the desk faces the left wall. I wanted to blast the tunes from my home entertainment system from the PC which made it basically come out of my rear right, based on my direction against a perpendicular wall.

This is my room layout

---FL------TV-------FR

|
|Desk
|

---RL-----couch----RR

I then discovered foobar has this "Convert stereo to 4 channels" option which makes me incredibly happy as I now have a room of audio, rather than audio to my right.

However...

Since I'm facing the left wall, Front Left (FL) and Rear Left (RL) are my left and right, playing the same sound so I'm missing out on stereo sound. Is there a plugin or way that I can reposition my foobar speaker configuration so that rear left is actually left and front left is actually right? And furthermore, is there a way to 'flip' front right and rear right to being the reverse of that as well?

Thanks in advance!

You could try Channel Mixer instead of Convert stereo to 4 channels, then fiddle with the upmixing matrix so that left comes out of RL and RR and right comes out of FL and FR.

Well, that plugin gave me center channel and more bass than before, so thanks for that suggestion... but after fiddling with that plugin's options for a bit, I can't seem to obtain that functionality. I'm not doing so well finding the documentation on the plugin to understand how to do what I'd like to do...

With the Matrix Mixer you can change channel output as you like.

Okayyyy... I'm having luck moving things around; however I don't understand this matrix, how it looks like it works, isn't how it's working out for me. I figured the 1 is on and 0 is off, but I can't seem to line up the left column with the top row as I'd intuitively expect it to work.

Do you have any advise with how it works?

From left to right you have the inputs and from top to button you have the outputs.
I think this should work for you.
dsp order
1 Convert stereo to 4 channels
2 MatrixMixer with this settings

Code: [Select]
FL FR FC LFE BL BR
FL  0  0  0   0  0  1
FR  0  0  0   0  1  0
FC  0  0  0   0  0  0
LFE 0  0  0   0  0  0
BL  0  1  0   0  0  0
BR  1  0  0   0  0  0
