EAC Beta 3 and Lame 3.99 vs. previous versions

With the release of EAC beta 3 and lame 3.99 I'm wondering if i should rip my cds again? are there any difference if i do it again with the new versions?

1. When you ripped your cds the first time, did you get satisfactory results (e.g., Accuraterip verification, no errors reported, etc.)?

2. Are you satisfied with the sound quality of your current mp3s?

If you can answer yes to both then no sense wasting your time re-ripping.

Yes i'm happy about the result of the mp3s that i created. One more question EAC beta 3 change log shows that "null samples are now always used for CRC" but the setting that i use for those mp3s did not use null samples for CRC. I'm not completely sure what that setting does. Does null samples for CRC effect the sound in mp3s that i create?

Like they said if the rip was good the 1st time then NO. If quality VBR was V4 or higher: NO

You likely find any differences in quality for lower settings <= V5 and they are likely confined to certain samples..

You can also stick to older versions to avoid constant upgrade anxieties .

The only reason to rerip is if you want to gradually replace your lossy files with lossless.

No. The CRC is used to compare uncompressed tracks ripped by EAC; it has nothing to do with their subsequent encoding.

As said, it isn't too likely that the average listener of the average MP3 of a reasonable setting could distinguish it from its uncompressed source file in any case. And if you want to check whether this is true for your MP3s, then you can set up your own ABX test. If you'd rather not worry that much, then don't!
