album list: how display album count by folder?

Under Library>Album List, I'd like to have a view that shows me how many albums I have by folder in my library.

I've tried, but I can't figure out the correct command to add under File>Preferences>Media Library>Album List >Views

If any of you have the correct string for this, it would be great if you could post it.  Thanks!

In your album list panel, you have a view by selection box. View by folder should do.

The standard folder view only shows song counts by folder, not album counts by folder.

Mine is as you want. My actual folder structure is Artist | Album | track.
by folder shows album count at artist level, track count at album level.

That explains why you get what you get.  You get an album count as a result of your folder structure.  I have many albums in a single folder, so our structures, preferences, and results are different with the standard views.

Any help with the string needed to see an album count, by folder, across folders that contain many albums in each is appreciated.

Not sure what you mean. As will happen, I got lazy when I saw no reason for a detailed folder structure so one of my "artist" folder is simply titled misc. 104 albums from various artists and folder view shows Misc (104)

screen shots may help sort it out.

EDIT: Guess you mean you have structure of one folder | many tracks from all sorts of albums

EDIT2: $directory(%path%,2) | %album%  you may need to adjust bold number

if you're using default UI, foo_facets might be better suited for this. you can have 2 facets - first one as folder structure and then the 2nd as "album". you can then add an "albums" statistics column to the first "folder structure" facet.

Yes, I have thousands of tracks from many albums in each of about 7 folders, so I'm looking for an elegant way to see within Foobar how many albums I have in each folder.  No, I don't use the default UI.  I really like the flexibility and usefulness of Columns UI, although if I'm the only one looking for an album count by folder who uses Columns UI I'll take a look at switching over to the default UI for periodic album counts.  thanks.

I didn't see Edit 2 in #6 before I posted above.  It works great!  Changing the number you bolded is a way to see the album count for different levels in the folder hierarchy, so that's easy to change as needed. thanks very much
