Title Formatting question from a newbie

I've read that %album artist% searches "album artist", "artist", "composer", "performer" Is there a way for a foobar facet list to display just the data from the Album List tag? If nothing is there, then the facet would display nothing or "?"

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

$meta(album artist)

$meta(album artist)

Thanks. Are there any exceptions to this?

When I tried this, the facet found just two of my 102 albums. Oddly enough, those two did not have Album Artist tags. Many others do not have Album Artist tags either, and many do. I can't see what the formatting was picking out. What I wanted was to have a list that did not include the artists that were on collection albums, just the artists on single artist albums.

I tried an $if - "$if($meta(album artist),$meta(album artist), )", but that just lumped the other 100 albums into one big category.

I'll keep messing with it, and if you have other suggestions, I'll be grateful.

Try one of the other fields mentioned. Or maybe also try $meta(albumartist). I'm not really sure.

You can also try saving some of the tracks in question to a FPL and hex edit the FPL to see which field names are defined by the tracks. Of course, I think FPL also uses a string dictionary, so the field names and field values will probably be in an odd order.

You don't need to mes around with a hex editor, if you use foo_infospect. It only presents data for the playing track, but it shows the names as they are stored internally in foobar2000.
