foobar2000 and Windows 7

I hope it's ok to post this kind of topic in this forum, I don't know where else to ask.
Basically, I've been using fb2k 0.9.6.2 on XP in portable install mode, since I hate the registry with all my heart. So now I switched to Win7 and things started to get ugly. If I run fb without admin privileges, I can't save the playlist or any settings. If I run it as admin, I can't drag any files into its window. I updated to newest version to see if it fixed this issue, but all it did was kill some of the components I used. Please help, I don't want to use wmp or some other bad music player out there. =(

Did you install to the standard directory (C:\Program Files\)
Try installing to My Documents folder and see if it helps...

I think it has something to do with permissions, but I don't exactly recall because it's been a long time since I killed UAC and I don't have that kind of trouble anymore

I installed it to a partition where the OS isn't installed. What bothers me is the drag&drop issue, I have no idea what is causing it.

EDIT: Apparently, it has to do with this. I really don't want to disable UAC but it seems to be the only way =(.

Check the permissions of the folder that foobar is installed to, and if you are happy doing so, change the ownership and permissions so that your user account has write permissions. This means that foobar running at user level can write to the folder, this way you don't have to start foobar elevated and break drag and drop. Of course this means any process under your user can write if it is inclined, but is safer than disabling UAC.

AFAIK non-system drives by default allow authenticated users (non-guest) to read and write to them.

This is why I just use a Standard Install with the user profile folder as the configuration location.
