How to connect Foobar2000 to my DLNA mediaserver in Windows 10 PC

Hi,
I am new to Foobar2000. I installed it on my Android phone and on my Windows 10 PC. I want to access my Upnp/DLNA media server that holds all my music. It can be accessed via wifi. On the Android phone Foobar2000 got access to the media server right away and works fine. On the PC I don't see how to give Foobar2000 access to the media server. I have tried the 64 bit version, the 32 bit version based on some of the discussions in this forum, I have installed various add-ons like Upnp media renderer, but nothing helps. I turned off the firewall, no change. Whereas both VLC and Windows Mediaplayer do connect to the mediaserver right away. So clearly the mediaserver is up and running and accessible.
What are the steps to make the connection? It would be helpful if this is described in the helpfiles or the manual somewhere.
Thanks in advance for your help!

This may be too obvious, but I'll ask anyway. Have you told your PC's install of f2k where to look?

I think the only way to access a DLNA server is to use the foo_upnp component, but it hasn't been maintained in years and is only 32-bit so you'd probably be better off mapping the NAS share to Windows and have foobar index your music.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I did try that, but I can only add folders there. The network path doesnot show the mediaservers that are shown in File explorer. See the screenshot with left the network options offered by Foobar2000 and right the network options that are available in File explorer. I have switched off the firewall and I have added Foobar2000 as app that is allowed through the firewall, but it makes no difference. And meanwhile other programs like WMP and VLC can access the mediaserver.

I can't tell who you're replying to, but you can't connect to the media server without foo_upnp.

I don't have the foo_upnp component in my current install and can navigate to the NAS media server on the network.

Can you browse the indexes of the media server e.g. Album, AlbumArtist e.t.c, or are you just saying that you can browse the folders? I think the OP wants to browse the indexes like they will be doing on foobar mobile.

The Media Library interface only sees folders, and once I pointed it to the appropriate folders (Music, Audiobooks) on the NAS, foobar2000 reads and monitors them. I thought the OP just wanted f2k to access the media server?

Hopefully they'll confirm, but they asked specifically for 'my Upnp/DLNA media server' which to me isn't the network share, but who knows  :)

Thank you for the suggestions. I have installed foo_upnp and now I was able in the Upnp browser section to connect to the mediaserver. An album list appeared and I selected a single album and tried to play it. This didnot work unfortunately. I get the message "Unable to open item for playback (Service Unavailable (503)):
"http://192.168.178.1:49200/AUDIO/DLNA-1-0/WD-Elements1042-01/My Music/Albums/pop/Destiny's Child/#1's/01 Stand Up for Love.mp3"".

You mentioned another method by mapping the NAS share to Windows. I had a similar idea, but couldnot figure out how to do that. Do I need another app for that? I don't see how to arrange this in file explorer. I can't map the media server to a drive letter.

You may need to enable SMB in Windows 10 in order to access the file system on the NAS

Open Control Panel.
Click on Programs.
Click on Turn Windows features on or off link.
Expand the SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support option.
Check the SMB 1.0/CIFS Client option.
Click the OK button.

Do you see your device listed in File>Pref>Playback>output>UPnP MediaRenderer Output>Found Devices
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?  ;~)

Thank you 2Tec for this clear instruction. It seems to have done the trick. After Simbun's suggestion to add foo_upnp I was able to connect to the media server with Upnp browser, but couldnot play the found titles as I replied yesterday. An error appeared. Now after your instruction the music is playing.
Thank you all very much for your quick and helpful answers!
