CUI - independent playlist

hi!

is it possible to have play-lists that are independent from one another? i.e. a NG play-list that has some 6 or 7 fields and a columns play-list that has just two fields?

right now i've just set up a culumns play list, i deactivated all but two fields, and found that those fields are also missing from the NG play-list..

I'm wondering this as well and would really appreciate the help!  I have two layouts setup, one with NG playlist and the other with Columns Playlist and a button on each layout to switch between them...  but as nosgah noted, any changes to the columns affects NG playlist layout as well.  Would be great if we could configure the NG Playlist separately from the Columns Playlist!  Or is there some sort of workaround?  Is it possible to have a custom button load up a specific foobar config/fcl to allow for two different setups of the columns/ng playlist?

No, ColumnsUI doesn't differentiate columns settings between NG and Columns playlist views in that way.

Is there some way to switch between two configurations using a custom button?

Preferences > Columns UI > Playlist View > Columns

There you can assign rules to each column, i.e to show a certain column only on playlist A,B etc.

Thanks xbullet, I knew about the playlist filtering but I was hoping for something different...

For example, say I'm looking at a playlist of mine.  I want to view it using Playlist Layout 1... and sometimes I want to switch and view the same playlist using Layout 2.  The only way i can think of is to set up two foobar configurations exactly the same, except one with playlist Layout 1 and the other with playlist Layout 2, then figure out how to customize a button to load foobar configurations for Layout 1 or Layout 2.  Unfortunately I don't know how to do this :/

Actually, that's easy.

Your commands should be View>Layout>%name of your layout%

However, you could use El Playlist as your alternative viewer. It is kind of difficult to configure though.

Ah yes!  Now to try to understand how to configure EL Playlist, so confusing!  No even easier solutions? lol

You want to analyse a playlist's content from different point of views by applying custom views with defined combinations of specified columns to the actual playlist.

I as well would appreciate such a functionality very much but unfortunately this is not possible at the moment, neither with foobar's DUI nor with CUI.

In Columns UI you can create columns to be shown only on some playlists but this means that you have to send the current playlist's content to another one only because the destination playlist's layout is more suitable for your examination than the source playlist's one.

As a Columns UI user I am wondering sometimes whether columns could be bound to layouts instead of playlists; so you could apply arbitrary custom views including columns arrangements to the actual content (playlist).
This is HA. Not the Jerry Springer Show.

That's exactly what I meant but I had trouble putting it into words.  The above suggestion to use EL Playlist along with ColumnsUI (or Default UI) is a solution, but I find the scripting with EL to be pretty difficult.  Maybe if there was some way of loading two ColumnsUI dlls so you could have two configs and set up a playlist view for each one...

At least in DUI, you can have a playlist view on different tabs with different columns settings. You can also save the individual column layouts (copy the playlist in LEM, paste to foobar2000\themes in Explorer, rename to something you like), then bind a key to View > Layout > Quick setup and switch it from the "Playlist layout" box there.
Full-quoting makes you scroll past the same junk over and over.

Unfortunately, I like some of the plugins available with ColumnsUI too much to switch to DefaultUI.  For now, will just have to learn how to use EL_Playlist.
