CUI - custom icons

this is kind of a dumb question i guess....

how do you use the custom icons?
i have found some really nice icons that i want to try on, in PNG format.
i went to buttons > options > display ..., selected the icons i want to be used and all i got was blank spaces.

i then converted the icons to .ICO and still nothing..

so is there like an 'Idiots Guide to Custom Icons..' somewhere around here? or can someone explain me how to use them really slowly lol

EDIT: yeah.. i forgot to extract the libgpng and zlib libraries  > PROBLEM FIXED
