Indexing FLAC/CUE image?

Hi,

After a lot of reading and some experimentation, i decided a long time ago to record my CD collection as FLAC/CUE images with EAC.
I keep the .CUE external to the FLAC file for several reasons, and everything is working well with Foobar2000.

However, I wonder if there is a way to index a single track in a FLAC image externally?

What i mean is, i would like to have some sort of file i can click in Windows Explorer (like the .cue file) which will open Foobar2000 and
start playback at a given offset, and will end playback at another given offset, effectively indexing one particular song in a FLAC image.

I have looked at PLS and M3U playlists and they are insufficient for my needs. A .cue file will only provide the starting position, so
the playback will continue until the end of the FLAC image.

The reason i need this is because I want to have "links" inside my media library. For example, under the folder "fates warning" I
keep all fates warning albums, but fates warning performed a cover of a song by "Rush". This track appears in a compilation cd
by various artists, so it is outside the "fates warning" folder. Still, i would like to have a link inside the "fates warning" folder
pointing to the cover song which is part of the flac image in "various artists".

I hope my explanation is clear. Thanks for reading and your comments on this.

Sounds like you're asking for something similar to .apl files, but for flac instead of Monkey's Audio.

To my knowledge it doesn't exist, though implementation of such a thing should be pretty easy.

For me it just makes more sense to have individual tracks rather than a image, a cue sheet (embedded or external) and a bunch of files that serve as bookmarks.

True, but I hate the gaps between tracks, especially when one song fades into the next one. I never got real gapless playback to work as well as the image

foobar2000 doesn't have any problems with gapless playback of flac files.

I don't want to guess at what might be at fault here except to make sure that you haven't configured a compression offset in EAC (if that's what you're using).
