yeah, but what i would really like is to be able to have it in a tab the same way i have facets and visualizations in tabs.

Well, that's a different question. Sorry , I can't help with that.
Having it work within the concept of a floating panel is the only method I know how to do. Though far from ideal, within your config, you could set it up to use the same space as your album art. Keyboard shortcut the panel to show / hide and remove the frame.
