No, you don't have to pay for the recovery of TAK files...

I just stumbled upon this:

Well, the TAK applications will already do this for you. Simply decode a damaged file and TAK will recover as much data as possible.

You know you've made it when such "software/services for idiots" centering around your technology start popping up.  Think of all the "super-easy-mp3-maker" crapware floating around for $19.95.  You should be flattered!

pretty clever.  look through the a-z they've got pretty much every format covered, even sonarc!
