The Nano gets the power from the USB port, regardless of the software or even operating system used. The whole charging electronic is inside the player. That's why you can also use those AC to USB adapters to charge iPods and other devices without PC.

Edit: I am talking about something like this:

Just plug it in. It doesn't matter whether you eject it or not.

i know there are 2 kind of recharge

FAST (at last of 80%) and SLOW recharge

Quote
Charging via USB or FireWire to computer system or power adapter (sold separately)
Fast-charge time: about 1.5 hours (charges up to 80% of battery capacity)
Full-charge time: about 3 hours

but how can i know if i did a fast -charge or full-charge?
is there some option in ipod?

Dude... Software has nothing to do with charging the battery. That is entirely controlled by a special chip inside the unit, just like with cell phones for example.

The fast and slow charge is actually not correct. Fact is that the iPod uses a lithium-ion battery or something very similar (maybe polymer, not 100% sure). A lithium-ion rechargable battery, unlike NiCd or NiMH batteries, can be loaded up to 80% very quickly. For the remaining 20%, it takes almost as long as for charging to 80%. The last state is called topping charge. So, actually, there is no such thing as slow or fast charge. What is rated as fast charge is the first stage where the battery is charged up to 80% with a constant charge current which is usually 1C or 0.8C (for a 1.5 mAh battery, 1C charging current would be 1.5 mAh - 0.8C would be 1.2 mAh). After this initial charge, the topping charge begins. If you stop charging after 1.5 hours, you loaded the battery up to 80%. If you stop charging after 2 hours, maybe your battery is 85% full.

With lithium-ion, it's better to NOT discharge the battery before loading.
