mixcd ripped as separete tracks

Im wondering if mixcd can be ripped PROPERLY as separete tracks without audible clicks/skips between every track ? Is there a possibility to keep the cd structure with seperate tracks ?

With mix or live cds it's sometimes advisable to rip the whole cd to one big track. Especially with lossy compressors. For example, the framesize of mp3 is different from the framesize of an audio cd and the first samples of an mp3 file are always incorrect. That makes there's a short silence and a small part missing between two mp3 files. For regular cds this is not much of a problem because tracks start and end with silence, but live and mix cds have applause or music on the track transitions. This almost always leads to an audible tick on the transition when you burn the mp3s to cd. The solution is ripping to one large mp3 and a cue sheet (the cue sheet contains the track positions).

This text 'inspired' me to start this thread. Maybe it was discussed earlier but search didnt show any good results. For example scene rls grps are ripping mixcds only with cdimage+cue method. My knowledge is not up to date and maybe it can be done properly also with separete tracks. Thanks in advance for answer

Any lossless format will not have the gap (depending on player), and if using Lame mp3 encoder gapless players can get sample perfect decoding, of both start and end of the file.

Encoding tracks separatey using LAME will be gapless but may introduce a click at track boundaries. Usually this isn't noticable. But for the sake of doing it 'perfectly/properly': Guaranteed seamless playback (as in no gaps and clicks) can be achieved by ripping the whole CD to one MP3, splitting it via pcutmp3 and using a LAME-TAG-aware player.
