Playlist Properties

Something which allows me to set "auto-sort" on individual playlists!

Now to elaborate...

New type of playlist (settings?) file. XML structured, with tags that allow the playlist to be:

An active directory, ie: "F:\media\music\" whenever the playlist file loads it loads everything under the directory. This includes whenever foobar2000 restarts or some kind of refresh button is pressed.

A CD-ROM device

A link to a remote playlist, such as www.blahblah.com/pls.pls

The structure could contain tags for each settings like the auto-sort thing.

I'm braindumping, I'll see if I can set a scenario.

foobar2000 version x.y.z starts, loads up a default.fpml () file (or selectable in the commandline) which determines which tabs to display.

In this fpml file there are nodes which invoke external fpml files, which themselves can do the same thing to nest playlist within playlist.

The top level of playlists is the tab switchbar, all subsequent levels are represented in a TREEVIEW in the main playlist window.

music.fpml is my recorded music collection, F:\media\music which is set to load "actively" (ie. files cannot be added to this playlist because it is loaded "actively" from the directory) and automatically sort based on display name.

puredj.fpml imports an external pls file: http://www.puredj.com/etc/128K.pls again read-only as such.

cd.fpml loads both of my CD drives under their own little tree's!

in.fpml is a random assortment of audio files around my machine, functioning much the same way as the current playlist system works, with free reign on what you can add, sort by, etc.

Things like playlist display name are set in the fpml file.

Admittedly, I think this would require a total re-work of the playlist system in foobar. But I think it is food for thought on peter's behalf for future versions. Look forward to seeing it in about 10 years then.
