ffmpeg AC3

after hours of searching, i finally found a free way to encode ac3 files that seem to work. only does stereo, but thats all i use (home vids to dvd).

ffmpeg 0.4.9-pre1
Get the win32 binary in here
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=79469
Get the gui here
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/ffmpegGUI.htm

make sure to install the gui first so that you overwrite the 0.4.8 with 0.4.9-pre1

I've tryed to use AC3Machine and HeadAC3he but i can't seem to find the ac3enc.dll, thus this is the only real option out there i have found. Let me know how it goes and if there are better ways of doing this with freeware. I used to use tooLAME for mp2 but thats not part of the DVD "standard" as far as i know.

The ac3enc.dll is included in the BeSweet download. It really is a very easy way to produce ac3 files.

mmhh still buggy for me...Did you try the last version of BeSweet with his GUI ??

With it you can transcode your files into ac3 (2 or 6 channels) with this free encoder...Just try it

It's worth mentioning that the ffmpeg ac3enc.dll outputs very bad quality streams. At its current state, it should only be used for testing purposes.

PCM, IIRC PCM is DVD standard,
use PCM, save lots of time!

You could just go to: [a href="http://dspguru.doom9.org]http://dspguru.doom9.org[/url]
and grab the latest beta with the latest GUI.
AC3Enc is included.

Or download the dll separetely under PlugIns called something like 'BS_AC3'

It works for me.
