Extraction & Compression With MusePack

I've noticed a strange problem when ripping tracks to MP+ files with EAC.

When I extract and compress a track in one action,  Extraction/Compression using mppenc.exe, EncSpot shows it as bad quality and shows 0 as the value for Bitrate, Length, and Frames, it also shows it as "Unknown" for Profile ( Profile was Xtreme) and Mpeg Plus Stream SV616.

But when I extract the same track as a wav file, and then manually use the Compress Wav action, using mppenc.exe, EncSpot shows it as good quality, and shows 201 Bitrate, 3:07 Length, and 7185 Frames, it also shows the correct Profile (Xtreme), and Mpeg Plus Stream SV7.

Anyone know why this happens ?

It's simple. You probably have ID3v2 tags enabled in EAC.

Since ID3v2 isn't part of the MPC file spec - it's a dumb 'hack' that some people insist on using, and that's the reason it is ignored by the Winamp plugin - the file is regarded by EncSpot as being corrupt.

Please, uncheck "Aditionally add ID3v2 tags" (compression options) from EAC settings and try again.

Roberto.
