Open Files without automatically starting playback

Is there any way to open a folder of files and not have playback start automatically?

I have a bunch of flac files I'd like to integrity check and playback starts every time I open a new folder of files. I'd really prefer that not happening every time.

I'm kind of new to using FB, but I have searched the settings and this forum, no luck so far.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the reply, but that didn't work. FB2000 still starts playing when loading a new folder of files.

I'm using File>Open, select folder from Tree, Select All (Ctrl-A), Click on 'Open' box. All files get loaded and immediately start playing.

Thanks for any further assistance.

I thought you meant from Explorer. My mistake.

What you want is File>Add folder or File>Add files. Not sure how anyone using File>Open would miss those. :/

Thanks for the reply. I do appreciate the help, but I didn't really want to 'Add' Files or Folders to the current list. Guess I should have explained that a bit further earlier.

I was just wanting to have new files load while clearing the previous list of files, just as File>Open does, only without having playback start automatically. Seemed like that should be possible, but maybe not?

Possible with 3rd party components I guess. How far are you willing to take this?

Might be easier to use the Edit menu>Clear manually. If it's grayed out, you'll have to click on a playlist to give it focus.

Don't think it's worth having to use 3rd party stuff, it's not that important.  I'm getting used to hitting the 'Stop' button after loading files anyway.

Just seemed odd playback always starts automatically with no way to turn that off?  Oh well, so much for that one.

Thanks again for the replies.

How about "opening" the folder in Library Search?  (I mean using a search term which picks up the set of tracks you want, which then list in the Library Search pane without automatically playing)
It's your privilege to disagree, but that doesn't make you right and me wrong.

I haven't yet looked at the library features of FB, but I'll take a look at that sometime.  The way I'm currently doing the integrity checking is good enough and I'm now used to doing it this way. Also about finished with the files I started out to check.

Thanks for the reply and giving me more incentive to take a look at the library features. Been using MediaMonkey for many years and I am quite happy with it, but it's always nice to take a look at new things.
