Right Click -> Save As -> m3u8 file (how to make this be the remembed type?)

Yay I fit the question in the title  :))

Basically when you save a playlist, I'm sick of consonantly changing it from .fpl to .m3u8, why won't this stay remembered, is there any way to change the default away from .fpl?

Thanks in advance.

No.

Foobar is not meant to manage/save/load playlists but tracks. Playlist are thought as static items. That's just one of the quirks...
Check this, it has what you want, apart from other things.

If you use the File menu>save playlist or right click the playlist tabs in default UI, the last setting is remembered.

Perhaps you're using Columns UI where right clicking the playlist manager/tabs resets to fpl even after choosing m3u8 last time?? If using 3rd party components, you really need to say so.

I have no idea what planet regor is posting from. :/

I mean you have to manually change the setting everytime you click save. That happens on my side too. You also need to manually set the filename every time, at least in my planet (cui). The path too.

Unless you use the playlist tab contextual menu (cui), but then.. not everybody use that. Specially if you have tons of playlists which clutter the UI.

And for sure, playlist are meant to be loaded once and be done. And then every time you want to save, you must use menus and (re)save them again. At least in my planet too.

Playlists in foobar are virtual things totally separated from the files they were loaded from.

I suggested him to check my wip, because that's what I have changed (his problem) among other things (which may be useful for him).

Yes this is exactly the case, sorry I forgot to mention that I use ColumnsUI, I forgot these factors can cause different behavior, I haven't used a stock (as in literally no 3rd party plugins) foobar in probably over a decade so, so I did not know that from your first part, "last setting is remembered." was the case.

So am I boned if I use Columns UI then?

Look at the image; just must use the contextual menu on the tab (if you use playlist tabs).
