Foobar Unable To Read Cd-rw

Hi!

I downloaded Foobar after reading about it in CPU magazine several months ago and it has supplanted Winamp as my audio player of choice.  Incredible program.  Anyway I am attempting to use Foobar to both play and burn audio CDs but it has thusfar been unable to read my preferred CD drive.

System Particulars:
My system is a Toshiba Satellite 1405-S151 laptop with an external 80gb hard drive and a Plextor 48x24x48 cd-rw with a 1.1 USB connection.  I use Exact Audio Copy for CD ripping (with wnaspi32.dll ASPI layer downloaded from Nero and installed in directory) and Feurio! (with same ASPI layer installed in directory) for CD burning and both perform flawlessly when either reading or writing data to the Plextor.  In addition my Windows Media Player (Series 9) plays audio CDs perfectly from the same external drive.  Foobar does read my laptop's internal dvd-rom/cd-rw drive along with my computer's Nero InCD virtual drive.

Troubleshooting:
1.  Downloaded wnaspi32.dll from Nero and installed in Foobar directory.
2.  Copied and installed ntaspi32.dll from CD-DA Extractor to Foobar directory.
3.  Ran ASPICHK.exe from Adaptec which stated "ASPI is properly installed and fully        operational."
4.  Downloaded forceASPI v1.7 but hesitant to install.

I've read several different website FAQs but the solution is to install the Nero ASPI layer to the program directory, which has already been performed in this case.  Is the USB connection unsupported?  Please assist if possible.

Sincerely,

The idiotSavant
