Can't convert and send files to ipod

I have installed the ipod plugin  and foobar recognizes my ipod.  When I try to send my database to it (four albums right now) I get the following message:

"Failed to add file to ipod: Conversion failed - Failed to start encoder process - The system cannot find the file specified.  (2h)"

My music is ripped to flac files.  I have the Preferences set to convert the audio to Apple lossless.

Am I missing a file or something I need to make this happen?

Thanks in advance.

We are missing the information needed to diagnose the issue.

The message suggests a problem with your command line. What is your command line?

You might also consider specifying which type of iPod you are using and other quite basic info.

Now we're officially over my head . . .

The ipod is an old Touch - foobar recognizes it so I'm assuming it supported (running 5.1.1).

Sorry, I don't know what the command line is - can you tell me where to find that?

Thanks again.

Sorry, not sure how foo_dop invokes whichever encoder it uses, but as I said, the message suggests it cannot find an executable and/or the supposed input file, so hopefully someone else has an idea.

Something worth trying is to look at View/Console: is there any additional info in its log?

This is a shot in the dark, but do you have the actual encoder? I believe Apple Lossless uses ffmpeg.exe. Without that file, you're not going to be able to convert your FLACs.

Does ffmpeg.exe come with foobar?  The encoder line lists this as the encoder for Apple Lossless, so I assumed it was included. I haven't downloaded it separately. Is it something I have to add to the components folder like the iPod installer?

No, the encoder is not included with foobar2000; it's a separate download (as is the case with all external encoders). I don't use Apple Lossless myself, but a quick Google search gave me this: http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/

Direct Link: http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/win32/sta...win32-static.7z

The file will be compressed. You will need WinZip or some other similar program to "uncompress" it (I believe 7-Zip is freeware). Once the file is uncompressed, look for the ffmpeg.exe file and copy it to your main foobar2000 program folder.

For 64 bit versions of Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\foobar2000
For 32 bit versions of Windows: C:\Program Files\foobar2000

After you've done this, you shouldn't receive the error message anymore.
