Why is there a expiration date?

Why is there a expiration date?

As the software is in developement stage, I just don't want to have too many versions out there at same time.

This fPEQGUI-10MC (and other two EQ GUI software which I've released (EQ31GUI-2 & PEQGUI-10MC)) is going to always be opensource/freeware so when the v. 1.0 is out there, expiration date is removed.

Good thinking on the expiration date  - so even it the software gets hosted by freeware sites once it expires they'll (eventually) pull the links so outdated versions won't be available too long after expiration.

Just one thought, though - does it just check the system time and date for the expiration, or connect to a time server?

Easiest I could think ... just gets the year and month from system date and compares against given values.

So, if someone wanted to they could simply adjust their time and date and use a pre-release version.  Good idea to keep in mind in case there is a huge influx of 'bugs' found in the final releases...
