Converting DD 5.1 (AC3), DTS or DVD Audio to .WAV files...HELP?!?&

I just recently purchased an AppleTV and just found out it can pass DD or DTS 5.1 audio and my receiver decodes it.  Great!  Now I am trying to get my DVD Audio music discs converted to .wav files so I can put them on my AppleTV and play them in full surround mode.

I have downloaded demos from a couple sites and they describe just converting the DD or DTS audio from a disc to .wav files and then importing into iTunes.  While iTunes cannot decode them, they do pass to the AppleTV and then play through the receiver.

Now my big question is...How do I decode or convert DD, DTS or DVD Audio files into .wav files so I can put them on my AppleTV???  BTW, I need a program for MAC OS X

I have tried searching but no luck (especially programs for MAC OS X).

I think most of my DVD Audio discs have a Dolby Digital soundtrack as well so if there is no way to convert DVD Audio, I still should be able to use the DD tracks on the discs.  The re-mastered Talking Heads CD's are a good example.

Anyone know of a program or way to convert 5.1 audio to .wav files so I can play them through my AppleTV?

Thanks in advance!

VLC media player is able to stream/transcode to a file. VLC can play AC3 (Dolby Digital) and generic DTS (via libdca), which can be streamed into a file, for example WAV.

I don't have a Mac, but VLC is supported on OS X.

This setup works to stream e.g. DTS >> 16-bit multichannel WAV:

Just open VLC, and then go to:

File >> Open File...

And select the input file. Then tick the "Stream/Save" box. Click on "Settings..." and you should get the window above. Set it up as above to stream to a multichannel WAV.

You can then convert the WAV file to e.g. a lossless medium (such as FLAC, WavPack, Apple Lossless).

I just installed VLC media player for this very reason, but the UI has changed a lot. Does anyone know how to Convert 5.1 DTS or DVD Audio to .WAV files with VLC?

I'd suggest using eac3to.
