Multichannel audio

Hi,
I'm little confused with foobar DSP "convert stereo to 4 channels", it somehow does not work on my 4 analog output[1,2,3,4 mono ch] sound card.
I had tested this feature on original sound card which has digital output  standard 5.1 or 7.1 [it does not mater in this case] and all was going fine. Digital standards have 1,2 - stereo[front]; 3,4 - mid, woofer [or something like that, also does not matter in this case] 5,6 and 7,8  - side and rear stereo. So I had 1,2 and 5,6 connected speakers and it works. Therefore I think that foobar duplicate 1,2 to 5,6.

- Is there possible somehow get sound through 3,4 channels instead of 5,6 ?

Try Matrix Mixer (foo_dsp_mm).

It duplicates Front Left/Right to Back Left/Right.

That component will have the same problem if his device doesn't support WAVEFORMATEXTENSIBLE properly.

Methinks that the original plugin does the correct conversion for a 5.1 multichannel setup where the six channels usually are in order: L,R,C,LFE,RL,RR. However, users may be confused by the name of the plugin and might try to use it in their 4.0 speaker setup, where channels naturally have a different order (L,R,RL,RR).

Yes, but the channels have the same order when using the "Convert stereo to 4 channels" DSP. The only oddity is that the player also emits a WAVEFORMATEXTENSIBLE header to the DirectSound device, which flags that the four channels are front left, front right, back left, and back right. If the driver doesn't handle this, it will output to the wrong connectors.

And if the driver is correct, maybe the problem is that you have your speakers plugged into the wrong connector.

Hi, after long time... multichannel audio does not work again, I can set up only 1,2 outputs. I tried several solutions: foobar matrix mixer, various VST matrix mixers, but None of them works now. I tried also with ASIO drivers but vainly.
I don't think its all about sound card drivers, because I have audio editing soft where all 4 ch working fine.

Any Ideas?
