i've just ported libvorbis, libogg, and vorbisfile stuff to the pocket pc a while ago, it was pretty straight forward (just add a few more #ifdefs around the ftoi function and some others) and written a player for it.

(i havent seen anyone else doing this before so i hope i'm not repeating anything already).

i kind of stuck all 3 libs into 1 tho, i guess i was lazy, i'll fix that soon.

i'm not too satisfied with it just yet, i'm still trying to find out why the waveout code in the player doesnt work right with anything more than 2 waveheader blocks. (the Flags thing doesnt get WHDR_DONE set when theres more than 2 blocks, either a bug on my side or a bug in windows ce for pocket pc).

Great News!

I just picked up an iPaq 3870 a few weeks ago and was looking for a vorbis decoder for the pocket pc platform but apparently none existed at the time.

It's good to hear that there's one being worked on now though

yes i hope ones come out for mpc and even aac. ipaq + 1 gig ibm microdrive is cool

Isn't there also 512MB Flash memory available. It probably consumes much less power than microdrive.

Good news. There was a bit of work duplicated and reinventing the wheel and such. IIRC Dan "BetaBoy" Marlin and some of his coder crew from their D.A.R.C. days(or shortly there after) had already ported the OGG and Vorbis libraries to pocket PC for use in the Pocket Divx Player/DC Divx Player. But I doubt the code has been updated or maintained of late. At least I have not seen any percievable action on it.

PocketMVP, which is currently hosted by ProjectMayo, supports OggVorbis playback.

As far as I tried PocketMVP .8.041303 yesterday, I could play my vorbis files but seek does not work fine.
Because Monty has been working on Tremor recently, I believe the situation will look up soon.

That sounds as if ti is something D.A.R.C. did afterwords. IIRC Pocket Divx etc could seek.

The PocketMVP (Music and Video Player) is the Pocket DivX Player, afaik renamed to indicate that it plays audio like ogg and mp3 and other video formats like Xvid.
Works a treat, the ogm support is great.
Sorry can't test seeking atm.
