How Do I Shorten My Query?

I want to make a playlist that includes multiple genres. Currently I have: genre IS "Soft Rock" OR genre IS Folk OR genre IS R&B OR...
It's very long. Any way to shorten it?

NOT genre IS "everything but the kitchen sink"

Seriously though, if the number of values that you're excluding in your queries is substantially smaller than the number you're including, using NOT is an option.

On the other hand, if you're only tired of entering long queries that you use on a regular basis, you might consider creating autoplaylists from those queries. Another alternative is to use the Quick Search Toolbar component which remembers query strings that you've entered into it. Yet another alternative is to create a new view for Album List using an equivalent title formatting string. All three of these alternatives will provide fairly quick and easy access (although each has its advantages and disadvantages).

You could post the query strings you use so that others might be able to possibly help shorten or simplify them.
