Problems with 5.1 sound

Hey there!

I recently decided switch to foobar2000 and I'm currently trying to figure out to get everything rollin'. I'm a bit stuck on getting 5.1 sound working atm and hope to find some help here .

I have foobar2000 V 1.1.6, pretty much untouched full install, Win XP 32bit and a 5.1 sytem attached via digital coaxial to my soundcard. Everything works fine, apart from foobar. Winamp & and Media pPayer Classic both work fine with 5.1 (ofc I tested with the same wav file).
The file I'm using for testing is "6_Channel_ID.wav" which I got from microsoft. I tried tinkering with the channel mixer in the DSP manager but with no results. I just get the stereo speakers and a very quiet center. Rear speakers and sub are silent. Couldn't find anything usefull with google too.

Can anyone of you guys please give me a hint on getting this to work?
Thanks alot in advance!

Do you use KS/ASIO/WASAPI output for foobar2000?

Thanks for your answer
But no, I don't think so. Those are plugins that don't come with the Installer, right? Didn't add any of those manually.

You can't output multichannel LPCM thorugh SPDIF. Winamp and MPC-HC, or your sound card must be converting it to dolby digital or DTS on-the-fly. Usually your receiver/decoder will tell you if it's receiving either of those. What filters are you using with MPC-HC? I haven't used Winamp since it was 2.0 so I wouldn't know about that.

Yeah, Dolby Digital it is. My soundcard ist doing that. I just found out what was wrong though. I just had my output format on 24bit. Shoud've noticed that earlier, as i knew that effect from playing with MPC settings.
Anyways, thank you for your reply. Helped me fix this in a way.
