Replaygain

I'm getting hard of hearing. Well at 66 what can I expect?
I don't suppose playing in bands for 25 years has helped much either.

Problem has arisen because of the European Legislation restricting the output of new iPods! Output is so low that at full volume, I can hear virtually nothing when in a bus, train etc

Question is, can I use replaygain to boost the volume from the default value of 89dB(?) to higher, say 93dB. I understand that clipping may occur but don't know if I will notice it. Nor do I know whether 93dB(?) would make significant difference
Trouble is, I don't know how to use Foobar to change the default value.

If anyone has any other suggestions I would be happy to try things out. However, at the moment I am reluctant to look at headphone amplifiers.

Cheers

you might look into jailbreak to remove the volume limit file. The current limits are 100dB within EU and 120dB worldwide. Actually your solution should probably be a better earpad :-)
