DELL Pocket DJ MP3 Player--HELP

I have a Dell Pocket DJ that's driving me crazy since I updated the firmware to the latest "Play For Sure" version available, the Ver. 2.20.07

Now, everytime I connect it to the computer, the screen shows that the Pocket DJ is "DOCKED", which means that it cannot be turned off and therefore the battery doesn't charge. I also try with the AC charger, the Pocket DJ turns off, but it doesn't show anything on the screen, and after more than three hours, no charge in the battery.

By the way, the battery was replaced with a brand new one two days ago.

Before I did that stupid firmware upgrade everything was fine, the only reason why I upgraded it was because I wanted to be able to sync music using Windows Media Player 11. I tried to replace the firmware with one of the older version that lack "Play For Sure", but I can't do that either, when I try, the firmware update reports that the Pocket DJ is disconnected. When I connect it, it gets "DOCKED" and the firmware upgrade to the older version doesn't recognize it. I need to know how to get it back to the old firmware, please help me.

Either that or search for some Dell Pocket DJ dedicated forums.  The Dell Pocket DJ is extremely old (I consider 5 years to be old in terms of technology) and I highly doubt that very many people use them now.  I did a quick Google search and see that you registered to multiple sets of forums and asked the same question.  I further searched to find users with similar problems regarding the "latest" firmware (not here on hydrogenaudio) and they have yet to receive any advice.  Maybe it is time for an upgrade.

Ok, I finally found a solution to work around the "DOCKED" problem with the DELL POCKET DJ loaded with the firmware Ver. 2.20.07 . The problem seems to be caused by Windows Media Player 11, that "docks" the player as soon as it is connected to the computer, and therefore the only thing that can be done with it is sync music, nothing else.

In my case, I wanted to be able to recharge the battery. Now I finally can.

This is the way to do it in Windows XP:

Go to START, CONTROL PANEL, SYSTEM, and then to the HARDWARE tab.

Then go to DEVICE MANAGER. Scroll down to PORTABLE DEVICES, click it and you'll see your player,
right-click on it and select PROPERTIES. Once there, go to the bottom and select DO NOT USE THIS DEVICE DISABLE).

Click OK, and that's it.

Just remember to go back there and enable the player again when wanting to sync music.
