Library viewers and a "double playlist"

First of all, hi everyone, I just started using Foobar coming from Winamp since I've got a couple of friends pestering me about it since forever.
(btw I'll underline the questions if you want to skip the whole explanation xD)
At first it was just to use and abuse the tagging options (mass tagger, freedb, etc) but I got curious and I've been messing around a bit to see if I could configure it to use as a main player, or at least as an alternative now and then.
I found a lot of the info I was looking for but some still eludes me, so I decided to ask. Here're some points

- I'm sorting my collection based on Genre -> Artist -> Album using the tags (before I was just using a folder approach) to use it with Winamp media library (I usually keep winamp with bento skin fullscreen on my second monitor).
Looking around I understood that a similar behavior can be obtained in 2 ways... DUI Facets and CUI Filters.
Facets seems the more promising of the two since you can also add custom tag filters, that would be awesome since I wanted to sort my collection in groups too (for example soundtracks of related movies/games, jazz albums with sax solos, etc) and I can't do that with winamp, BUT...
I cannot make a "double" playlist putting in one only facet selection and in the other the actual playlist, so I can drag the songs I want in the playlist, anyone can tell me if that's possible and how?

- I want to see lyrics too, and integrated in the UI of course, I found a nice component (lyric show) that does that, but works only on ColumnsUI, is there a way to have both that and some facets-like options togheter? (I know that there's a component to force it in DUI, but it looks discontinued :\)

Some other things I'd like to know if they're possible to do:
- Album Art in Facet/Filters view
- get Facet to work outside DefaultUI or any other component that does the same thing (included the custom tag filters) because I refuse to use an app that looks like it came out from Win95

That's it more or less, and ty in advance.

PS: Since some winamp plugins aren't really lightweight and I don't know about foobar ones I'll say this: I don't care about bloat, resource usage, open source or anything else, so basically anything goes  As long as it works I'm happy, if it's shiny I'd be happier, if it's not under GPL would be perfect.

if you have playlist tabs (both DUI and CUI support this), you can easily drag/drop files between playlists (or you can drag files to a blank area above the playlist to have it create a new playlist). you just can't view 2 playlists at the same time.

you can set up custom filters in columns ui too. just look under the filters tab in the columns ui preferences.

I know that but that's just... inconvenient and uncomfortable compared to having two lists next to each other, one with the filters result and one with the playlist. (also dragging you can choose directly in what place of the playlist you want to place the new song, instead of first adding them and then sorting)

yeah that's handy, thanks for the pointer, I had just discovered it a while ago while I was messing around with ColumnsUI

Custom filters and the possibility of watching the lyrics without tabbing out of the media library (that's the case with winamp bento, could be solved using modern skin, but I don't really like all those separate windows) are big pluses for foobar over winamp. Too bad that since I build my playlist on the fly and I edit it often, the foobar approach would make me lose way more time than winamp, so I really need to find a way to solve that

Use ELPlaylist, disable the "Follow active playlist" option and you can have your "double playlist".

1. foo_facets will allow you to add a title pane if you really want to. Probably what you need to do is turn off it's "Facets selection playlist".

2. Given your usage habits, you might be better served by using a Media Library Viewer that is intended to display individual tracks like the Album List.

3. You could probably use ELPlaylist, but you'd be using a gun when a flyswatter would do.

I tried that but every time I select something to add to the playlist, the whole playlist changes to what I've selected... I tried to see if there was some options to change the behavior of leftclicking on a item, but didn't find any.
I fear I'll have to use the "bigger guns"... at the moment I'm trying to see if there's a way to have the normal playlist send stuff to EL playlist on double click and not only dragging (and trying to understand how to config EL Playlist... the readme turns out to be a translation made by a random translation website of the original chinese-or-something one)

File ->Preferences->Media Library->Disable "Library View Selection Playlist"

you can achieve this. if you have a playlist containing your playing/queued songs, drag the files from another playlist and hover over the tab for a few seconds. this brings it into focus, then you can place the files exactly where you want.

It doesn't seem to change anything (also it was already disabled it seems)

How do I create one? No matter how many Columns playlist or NG playlist I use, they all always show the same stuff... I guess I need to do it with EL Playlist?

Edit: nwm I managed to do that with 2x EL Playlist... it's getting in shape finally
