CD Backup: Image or Individual files?

I've got EAC/FLAC to back-up my CDs (and followed the guide to settings for people who don't know what they're doing    ), 
is there any difference between saving individual songs rather than a FLAC Image?
With the image I'm unable to skip through songs but my main concern is backing up my CDs
