No playback on first few tries

I'm getting this weird problem where playback does not occur after opening foobar for the first time. I try pressing the play button my keyboard or double-clicking a song, but nothing happens. It's only after I try this (usually) a third time that playback of a track begins. This problem only seems to occur the first time opening foobar, after turning my computer on.

I've tried this when foobar's output was set to my laptop's soundcard, and I've also tried it using an external DAC as output.

I'm not too sure why this is happening, does anybody have any suggestions? Thank you.

btw, I'm using foobar 0.9.6.1 beta 2. I'm running Vista Ultimate, with "Realtek High Definition Audio controller" in my laptop.

Try the latest stable version of Foobar2000 from HERE and let us know if the problem persists.

Strangely enough, the problem does not seem to occur when using the stable version. Is it possible it may be a bug?

Possibly. But as you were running an old version, and a Beta at that, I don't see why that should be of any concern really. If it's fixed, it's fixed. Be happy.

Oh jeez. I really apologize, but I meant to say that I'm running 0.9.6.1 beta 2!
