Ipod database formatting/compatability

I recently purchased a new headunit for my car that supports ipod integration using the JVC KS-PD 100. Problem is the song names are showing up as "YPRD" and things like that... the actual names of the files in the ipod. All songs on my ipod have been properly tagged. The only possible exceptions are auto conversions from media monkey. No I haven't been consistent with the programs I use to xfer music to my ipod, I've used iTunes, Winamp, maybe foobar briefly and media monkey. I can only assume they dont muck up the database.  Also when a movie tries to play while connected it locks up my ipod =/ I havent been able to get past track 10 because of it.

Would roxbox be compatible with this? Does it support the same formatting structure as the ipod?

Thoughts? Useful links and explanations?

Are you sure you've set the headunit to show the tags instead of the filename? I assume you're using a JVC headunit with the ipod integration device.

On my JVC headunit there's a "display" button which changes what info is displayed. If I remember correctly it goes something like: filename -> title (from the tag) -> Artist/Album (from the tag) -> back to filename

Doh. Thats probably what it was, though now my ipod is dead so I cant check =/

Loaded rockbox a few days ago and left it on the info screen that tells you battery life hd usage etc... came back and it was dead, plugged it in to my computer and still dead. Tried different USB ports and all the button combinations I could think of. Hold isn't on.

It might be completely drained of battery. Leave it on charge for a few hours and it should have a good load of juice...
