need help with date calculation

Hi,

I'm trying to get an automatic rating equation running in foobar. It takes into account play count, skipped tracks and song length (i.e more likely to skip a long song than a short one) and now I'm working on the date part, I've hit a problem:

Is there a function that can translate a date to a value. I just need to get some kind of weighting from the differences between various date fields.

eg. does anyone know how to do formulate:
%last_played% minus %date_added%
so that it yields a number (i.e. the number of days, or seconds or whatever between the fields)

I've checked the wiki and I'm not getting anywhere.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Have learnt a lot -- also see the value in $puts and $get. Think I've got my date adjusted auto rating formula sorted -- just testing now.
