"beginners-only"?
"eye-candy"?
"restrictive / simplistic of what a beginner is"?
NullString & Jose Hidalgo, you guys should start your own thread.

Back to the topic, I voted for Column UI/UI Panels.

I have been working on a config and now the only thing Im left with is to implement the cover flow.

Chronial, we appreciate your work, I think im speaking for most people. Just to ease our anxiety, when do you think we should expect the plugin, even if it not up to scratch?
No pressure at all, we need quality plugins, and im sure thats what is in your oven.

BTW, NullString & Jose Hidalgo, the important things about fb are in this order:
1.) The sound engine and dsp's (whether as plugins or standard)
2.) Its very light weight, I mean light, unless using a badly written plugin
3.) whatever you guys wanna debating about.
4.) Did I mention that it has a damn good sound engine?

Moderation: Split off-topic posts about what a "Beginners UI" would be into a separate topic.

Thanks a lot

I'm really sorry - but I absolutely can't say anything about that. I'm still going to school, have a job and a private live - time between all that is spare, and I'm already coding at my job and I don't want to do it all day.

Frank Bicking sure have developed one great plugin cause I see some people use DUI just for the Facets. Even if they have to painfully sacrificed another thing such as custom button, custom shiny UI,etc.

I don't understand how great it is cause I don't use it. Tried it, but it's just not my thing (imply to anything alike - browser, albumlist, playlist tree, etc) and my music tag have too low information to make Facets useful.

I moved from Columns UI to Default UI, just because of Facets. So I would vote for whatever UI that supports Facets. Facets are very useful for large libraries.

That's precisely what I was saying (experienced users moving to DUI), so I guess I was right. And since Facets doesn't seem to be moving to ColumnsUI anytime soon, that leaves only DUI as the best choice for people like you and me... or a separate window as a second choice. Or, of course, ColumnsUI, but that will force us to have both ColumnsUI and DUI.

ColumnsUI has the Filter panels these days which are pretty much the same as facets.

I would love to get a default ui element too once the SDK is done. You can add it with dockable panels even if it's made for panels ui but a native implementation would be less of a hassle.

Yes, but annoyingly, running it as a dockable panel with the Default UI seems to prevent it from sending anything to the playlist. Looks cool though.

Chronial -- we love your work. Maybe you could fix it so that it works as dockable panel with the Default UI? I don't know how difficult it would be.
