Some notes over all this:

- Sennheiser HD580 (very similar or equal sounding to HD600) are a little bright sounding for me.
- Sony MDR-7506 (very similar or equal sounding to Sony V6) are quite unnatural sounding, with quite harsh middle-treble and over-emphasized bass, for me.
- High impedance headphones do not require much power (current), it's more the opposite. What they require is high output levels (voltage), and in some cases, low output impedances if the impedance curve of the headphone has deep peaks and/or valleys.
- You can use the speaker outputs of any standard hifi amplifier as headphone outputs, soldering a few resistors to it. Cheap'n'easy way to have a good headphone amplifier.
- Speakers and headphones to not require burn-in, this is another audiophile myth. They burn-in in 1 or two minutes as much, after that what burns-in is your brain.

Sony MDR-V6 w/ Beyer pads will run you right around $100.

I've used mine for the past year or so and they're great. Very accurate sound replication, comfortable, doesn't take much to drive them.

Highly recommended. 20+ years with the same design says alot.

Any suggestions for earphones under 100.00 - requirements - durable, decent bass, not muddy sounding, comfortable - I am considering the Sony 888's and have seen the entnomics? but they are pricey.

Thanks

I'm very satisfied with my Audio-Technica M40fs - headphone I bought for 75 Euro.
Have a look at Audio-Technica headphones for further information.

Cobra, could you tell me where I can get AKG K 501 and for how much in Poland, if you don't mind...
I've changed only because of myself.
Remember, when you quote me, you're quoting AstralStorm.
