component to automatically skip silence?

anyone know of a component that will automatically skip silence that occurs in a track?

for example, a song at the end of an album that has an extended section of silence before a "hidden" track.

it would be nice to have a component that could detect the silence, and give you an option to set how long the silence should occur before skipping ahead to the next portion of audio.

this has probably been discussed before, but my search came up empty. thanks.
