did u have to find double-bank RAM for your motherboard?
what i did is pull the existing stick out (128megs) and walk to the nearest shop and told them i need another one of those..., was told that they have similar only bigger 256megs, so i took one of those.  (i know, its an easy way, but iam lazy sometimes...)

YEE-HAW, problem solved!!!

I moved the jumper to the "DMA" position (according to the manual it should be
in the "MASTER" position) and now it works!
I have no idea whatsoever why it didn't work as it was, nor why it works now,
but it WORKS!!! I burned 2 CDs perfectly at 24x and 16x, and the data verification
was successful! At last... Let's hope it stays this way.

2. if it is a pio mode problem check (Case):

BTW, before miraculously stumbling on the solution, I fiddled with the registry settings,
and uninstalled both buses in case it was a PIO problem, but it didn't help.

Hi.

I recently burnt an audio Cd with Nero , & some of the questions I had
were the same as yours.

a. Is it a good idea to have Nero decompress your mp3 files on the fly, or is it better to decompress them manually?

In the Faq in the general forum there is a a section that tests decoders & I found it very helpful.
Nero was also among them. -Only thing the versions under consideration  are,
some time back. -In those older versions there were few small hitches with the
Nero Mp3 decoder. -I did not use it but converted to .wav first.
Winamp was one of the best decoders in those tests.

I checked the cd and to my dismay many files were corrupted.

I used the 'Simulation' & 'Speed Check' in the burn dialog...& burnt at the
speed nero set.[24x](used Nero 5.5.7.6 & Samsung SW224B  24/10/40  Cd-RW)

You could try the simulation without the write......
I suppose the simulation might show if there is a problem & you could save
some CDs.

P.S:

I don't think that simulation will show whether u'll have corrupt data after burning...
