Some Asus, NEC, Lite-On drive questions before ripping music collectio

I have three different drives I can use for ripping my entire collection but really I am only considering two of them. One drive is an Asus E616A and the other is a Lite-On SOHD-16P9SV. I also have NEC ND-3540A but really not considering it. I was planning on using the Asus because it doesn't cache while the Lite-on does. Is there anyway to disable the Lite-On's cache. What do you guys recommend for a better rip. What is the best way to test my rips with the two drives. Thanks.

Find a scratched CD that is in AccurateRips database and rip with all your drives, you will get a feeling for which is the better drive.

Is it in accuraterips database when it tells you a percentage of errors when it is done? I did  this with scratched cd. Asus performed a little bit better. It performed equally when I checked let it do C2 error correction. It took about 3 minutes instead of 10-15? Would it be recommended to leave C2 error correction on for the drive or is this not recommended?

No, if the rip was error free or not.

I understand that and now have it installed and it connects to the database. Where does it show the results? I have done two cds now with no results. These could be cd's not in the database but where does it normally show the results. Thanks a lot. Then I will try the different settings.

A couple of things: it's typically best not to use C2 if you want accurate results.  The percentage that you are referring to comes from EAC, which is not AccurateRip.  It sounds like you have AccurateRip installed, so go ahead and follow this guide, which will help you get up and running with AccurateRip.  Cheers.

P.S. Drives that DO NOT cache audio are typically better to use for ripping.  All of this information can be found in a quick Google or Hydrogenaudio search, though...

Drives that do not cache audio data are faster maybe, but not typically better.

Good guide. I am testing a track right now. I want to rip whole cd's at once, not tracks at once. Is there a way to do this and rip into flac. Thanks a lot.

From the Action menu select Copy Image & Create CUE sheet > Compressed

Be sure you have selected Flac.exe to be the encoder in the compression settings.

Cheers!

I'm assuming if you don't rip via track that accuraterip doesn't detect. Will it do whole disk detection?

No, AccurateRip will only check by a per-track basis.

K. one last question. I set up to use flac as the encoder but I must have part of the command line wrong or something. The encoder window comes up and immediately shuts. I also tried to use Autoflac but that didn't work either. Are there any other good automatic programs or does someone have the command line or where I can see it to set up right. Thanks for the help so far.

@excetara2

Open 'External Compression' tab.

1. Check 'Use external program for compression'
2. Change 'Parameter passing scheme' to 'User Defined Encoder'
3. Set file extension to .flac
4. Locate 'flac.exe'
5. Use command line :
-T "artist=%a" -T "title=%t" -T "album=%g" -T "date=%y" -T "tracknumber=%n" -T "genre=%m" %s
6. Check 'Delete WAV after compression'
7. Uncheck 'Add ID3 tag'
